Although the following poem may seem dark, it is necessary to remember that no matter how dark the hour may become, there is always hope. There is always a path to lead you back home again. There is always a way to get things done. We may not always like the destination we are given, but there is always a way back home.

One of my best friend's "Papa" is going through major health issues right now. He has confessed that he feels like he is a burden to his family. Nobody is ever a burden when they are loved but he forgot that. As you read this poem, please keep her in your mind to offer her comfort as she comes to terms with the events going on in her world. Thank you.

I have walked through shadows
In the dark of darkest night
Searching for some calming peace
One hopeful shining light

The moon and stars have left me
Vanished from the skies
Hidden deep and dark within
Its murky cloud disguise

Blindly my footsteps falter
through brambles, swamp and fields
My frantic search continues
The night my vision shields

As if in answer to my cries
The night reveals her luminous guide
To light my way back to my haven
To let my fears subside

Now sitting by my warming hearth
Locked safe within its walls
I thank the guide for hearing me
Answering my calls

Home where there is family
Home where there is love
I raise my hands up to the skies
And thank the stars above
